As all aptana fans know, Aptana PHP plugin was discontinued in Aptana 2.x, in favor of PDT.
But PDT is a joke, not suitable for professional PHP development, major features are missing.
So if you want to continue using Aptana PHP, that’s what need to be done:

  1. Aptana -> Help -> Install New Software
  2. Add http://update.aptana.com/install/php
  3. Then select Aptana PHP and install it.

In case you don’t have yet a SVN plugin, go to

  1. Aptana -> Help -> Install Aptana Features
  2. Others -> Subclipse
  3. Follow the instructions

      Hello, cheers for the info. Any news on whether doing this is worth the hassle, as opposed to staying with Studio 1.5.x and the PHP plugin?

      I’m going to give it a shot now, but would be interested to know if you’ve identified any problems or benefits.

      Well, Aptana PHP is much better IMO. Easier to use and at least it has an easy way to use own code colorization 🙂 I tried to switch to PDT several times and still cannot do as Aptana PHP is more convenient for me. Anyway, you should try yourself to understand the difference

      Cheers

      You’ve done it. Its very much appreciated. I did nt find any info about Aptana php plugin. I wonder, how you get it. I have installed Aptana Studio 2 yesterday in my ubuntu 10.04 and it did nt show PHP syntax highlighting and I’m very frustrated. Then I search a lot and finally found the solution from your note. Thanks a lot.
